The Most Important Thing...
What's the most important thing in your life? Your job? Your friends? Your family? Your health? These are all good things - important things! The Bible says:
"Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don't worry about missing out. You'll find all your everyday human concerns will be met. Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don't get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes." Matthew 6:33-34
You see, the most important thing in our lives is our relationship with God. Once we have that, God will help us with everything else when the time comes. Have you started this all important relationship with Him? You can...today! First, we all must recognize that we are sinners. Romans 3:23 says that "all have sinned." But John 3:16 tells us that God loved us so much He made a way for us to have relationship with Him. It says,
"This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life."
So the second thing we must do is believe that Jesus is God's Son and wants to provide that way to have relationship with God. Jesus came as a man to Earth, lived a sinless life and then died or paid the penalty of our sins for us. God brought Him to life after being dead three days and now He is with God, the Father, in heaven praying for us and preparing a place in heaven for us. After we recognize that we are sinners in need of forgiveness and believe Jesus is God's Son then, thirdly, we confess our sins to God. 1 John 1:9 says, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" or the thing that separates us from God. If you want to start this exciting relationship with God, just pray this prayer.
"God, I understand that I am a sinner, that I have done many things wrong. I also understand that you sent Jesus to pay for my sins with His life. Please forgive me of my sins. Clean my heart and be my God. Help me to obey You and follow Your ways. Thank you. Amen."
